Sighisoara. Also located in Transylvania, Sighisoara is one of the best places to visit in Romania due to its beautiful preserved walled town. During the 12th century German craftsmen and merchants, The Transylvanian Saxons, were invited here by the King of Hungary to settle and defend the frontier. They established a thriving trading town here and the citadel visitors see today. It was later extended and enlarged in the 14th century. Every July a Medieval Festival takes place in the old citadel. The landmark of the city is The Clock Tower, a 64 meter (210 foot) high tower build in 1556. Sibiu. Sibiu, once part of Hungary, dates back to the early 12th century. The city is located in Transylvania, an area that is associated with vampires, including Dracula, but it’s highly unlikely that visitors will run across any in this day and age. Instead, travelers will find the Grand Square, in use since the 15th century, and Baroque buildings, including Brukenthal Palace, home to one of t

Budapest. Budapest, Hungary’s capital and largest city, is considered one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. One of the best places to visit in Hungary, Budapest is home to the world’s largest thermal water cave system as well as the world’s second largest synagogue and third largest Parliament building, the city’s top attraction. You’ll find spectacular views of the Danube and the city from Fishermen’s Bastion, originally part of the city wall. A poignant memorial to Jews killed in World War II can be found at Shoes of the Danube, where Jews removed their shoes before being shot and washed away by the river. Lake Balaton. When relaxing at a resort becomes more appealing to you than walking another cobblestone street to see another medieval building, head to Lake Balaton. Europe’s largest freshwater lake is also Hungary’s most popular summer resort. It’s so big it’s sometimes referred to as the “Hungarian Sea,” a delightful misnomer since the country is landlocked. The city presents a confusing blend of historical and modern features. Barcelona. Located in northeastern Spain, Barcelona  is one of the country’s top travel destinations because it offers everything tourists look for in a European city from historic architecture to lively shopping, vibrant culture and buzzing nightlife. Both of these extraordinary structures feature combinations of fascinating designs, shapes and colors. Popular activities in Barcelona include strolling along La Rambla, a tree-lined pedestrian avenue, and sunbath on Barceloneta, one of the city’s most popular beaches. Italy   Italy is a traveller’s paradise. From snow capped mountains to lazy Mediterranean beaches and from unspoilt villages to bustling cities, it has something to offer every visitor. Being a history buff, I decide to visit Rome, Florence and Venice on my trip to Italy.   Rome, the capital of Italy is also called the ‘Eternal City’. My first stop is the Vatican City. Here I visit the Sistine Chapel, the official residence of the Pope, and St. Peters Basilica, one of the greatest churches in the world. I come out of the cathedral and stroll around the square, built by Bernini, soaking in the beauty of the place. My next stop is the Colosseum. Built for 50,000 spectators, it is the biggest amphitheatre in the world.   With canals for streets, Venice is truly unique. The perfect way to see the beauty of Venice is to lose oneself in the labyrinth of its alleys and canals. I fulfill my long standing dream by taking a gondola ride down the Grand Canal. I also visit the Piazzo San Mar

Millions of people all over the world spend their holidays traveling, and I am no exception. Traveling is my passion. Fortunately, my parents are of the same opinion. Therefore, every time a vacation comes, we try to visit some new place. It can be either a new city or a new country. We have already visited Poland, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, and Estonia. I liked all these countries because people were hospitable, and I learned something new about each of these cultures. In my opinion, travel is life. They provide an opportunity to see new places, meet new people, discover interesting sights and learn something new about other cultures. For example, in Poland, I learned that people who live in separate houses are building small churches or other religious buildings in front of the courtyard. This makes their colorful houses even more attractive. In Turkey, I learned that bargaining is good. Moreover, it is a national tradition.  If we stay at h

World Time

At the traveling time, it is often necessary to adapt to local time, especially when transferring to another transport. I am very interested to know where I am going: to the 'future' or to the 'past', and for how many hours. The time zone map helps with this. I only need to click on country to see the time!
